1. PET STORES
Positives
- Pet stores are mainly everywhere
- The rabbits at pet stores are cheap
- You never know the back round of the bunny which means they could be aggressive or have biological problems.
- Some pet stores may sell rabbits to you under 8 weeks of age
- Most of the time where the rabbit/s are/is kept is in cage with little or no ventilation
- You never know what the rabbits real breed is. E.g You go and get a rabbit from a pet store and the tag says "pure mini lop" then a few months later the so called "pure mini lop" ends up being the size of a Rex.
- Most, nearly all pet store people have no clue what they are talking about when it comes to rabbits
- Some rabbits at pet stores put down rabbits that do not sell which means if you buy one from them your keeping the demand of rabbits in pet stores high.
Pet Stores have nearly triple the amount of negatives then they do positives I would keep searching
2. SHELTERS
Positives
- Many rabbits that have been neglected, if they don't sell they have no other choice but to put them down. Which means when you buy one you are saving a bunnies life.
- Most of the time what you see is what you get(In terms of behaviour).
- Most shelters sell rabbits for free if you donate at least a dollar.
- Sometimes they spay or neuter the rabbit/s
- Where I live sometimes they even give you a free hutch!
- There is a great range of ages.
- Some times the breed can be wrong(Though this is no problem if you aren't going to be showing)
3. BREEDERS
Positives
- You know exactly what breed you are going to be getting.
- Great for showing
- If you will not be showing your rabbit there is no point getting one from a breeder because there are so many rabbits that need rescuing from shelters
- Very expensive. Sometimes up to $100 for a rabbit.
